A dataminer has discovered cut Elden Ring content that takes the merchant Kalé on a dark quest to find the Three Fingers. FromSoftware's open-world RPG contains many memorable NPCs, like Alexander and Ranni, with their own unique questlines. A previous Elden Ring datamine revealed a dream stealing mechanic and questline that were cut from the game, and now a robust storyline involving Kalé has been uncovered.
Elden Ring takes players to the Lands Between, a massive open-world fantasy setting filled with fascinating characters to meet and ruthless bosses to defeat. Players' main goal in Elden Ring is to reach the capital city of Leyndell, enter the mystical Erdtree and claim the crown of Elden Lord. However, throughout the game players will also meet numerous NPCs with their own unique goals and questlines. Players can free the proud Iron Fist Alexander from a hole, befriend the trickster Patches or learn new skills from Knight Bernahl. While Elden Ring NPC merchant Kalé does not have his own questline in the final game, a dataminer has discovered a cut storyline revolving around him.
As reported by PC Gamer, dataminer and YouTuber Sekiro Dubi recently discovered a cut Elden Ring questline involving the merchant Kalé. The friendly figure can typically be found in the Church of Elleh throughout the game, but Sekiro Dubi recently uncovered a cut questline that sees the merchant move across the Lands Between. Kalé's quest to find the Grand Caravan of his people would eventually bring him to the Subterranean Shunning Grounds, where the Three Fingers lies buried alongside his people. As revenge for the death of his people, Kalé would push players to embrace the Three Fingers and unlock a dark alternate ending to Elden Ring.
While Kalé's questline was sadly cut, a recent Elden Ring patch made the Ranni quest much easier to progress and finish. The massive questline sees players ally with the witch Ranni, which kicks off a quest that takes the Tarnished across the Lands Between and into its most well-hidden areas. However, players must defeat the powerful Starscourge Radahn to unlock the Eternal City of Nokron and complete the quest. Beating the boss unlocks a hidden path that can be difficult for players to locate, but a recent Elden Ring patch helps by marking the entrance on the player's map once Radahn falls.
Merchant Kalé is a memorable part of Elden Ring's early hours, but a full questline would have let the friendly salesman have a much larger impact. Choosing to side with the Three Fingers is highly criticized by Melina, but Kalé's presence could have made the choice much more appealing. Thanks to Sekiro Dubi, Elden Ring fans now have a better understanding of how Kalé could have influenced the game.
Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStaton 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
