Netflix has decided to release Floor Is Lava season 2 in two parts, and with Orange Cassidy among the players set to still be introduced in the second part, here's everything fans need to know about Cassidy's professional wrestling career. Created in 2020 and released during the first height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Floor Is Lava is based on the popular children's game. Teams of three must race to complete intricate obstacle courses without falling into the dreaded lava below. The eventual winning team doesn't just walk away with $10,000 but also a cool lava lamp trophy.
Floor Is Lava season 1 was an immediate success among viewers who praised the show's easygoing entertainment, and Netflix had no problem raising the stakes with several changes for season 2. Besides more complex obstacles and the introduction of a giant volcano, Floor Is Lava season 2 features many celebrity trios. Team Too Hot, for example, is made up of Too Hot To Handle stars Harry Jowsey and Chase DeMoor, as well as TikTok influencer Tayler Holder. Another team, which will be introduced during later episodes of season 2, is comprised of wrestlers and BFF's Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor, and Kris Statlander.
Cassidy, born James Cipperly, is a 38-year-old from New Jersey who joined the wrestling group The Colony under the name Fire Ant in 2004. Cassidy was trained by Mike Quackenbush and Chris Hero and eventually became a trainer himself in 2013. The Colony was one of the strongest Chikara acts before the promotion ended in 2020 after several allegations of misconduct and sexual harassment began surfacing. While affiliated with The Colony and Chikara, Cassidy continued to wrestle in independently-held events before he signed a contract with AEW (All Elite Wrestling) in 2019.
Although Floor Is Lava season 2 star Cassidy made his AEW debut after 15 years of experience as Fire Ant, the wrestler began using his current stage name as early as 2009. Almost every wrestler is known for a specific gimmick, and Cassidy's aloofness and constant use of sunglasses are frequently compared to Ryan Gosling's character from the 2011 film Drive. Athletes going head-to-head in wrestling aren't uncommon, and Cassidy has been embroiled in several feuds throughout his career. Some notable face-offs include Chris Jericho, Kip Sabian, Miro, and former wrestler Vin Gerard. When he isn't in the ring, fans of the wrestler can follow him online on Cassidy's Instagram and Twitter, where he infrequently posts about his various ventures. Self-described as "Freshly squeezed," to go along with his persona, Cassidy's Twitter bio states that he loves "havin' a good time and just gettin' after it."
While Netflix viewers are still waiting to catch Cassidy, Taylor, and Statlander's performances on Floor Is Lava season 2, there's a good chance that their professional athletic backgrounds helped them navigate the complicated obstacle courses to avoid falling into the gooey lava. With the trio being good friends in and outside of the ring, the team should have no problems communicating or providing the support needed to secure the $10,000 prize. Whether Cassidy is playing for himself or charity, fans of Floor Is Lava season 2 so far will have to wait until Netflix releases the next batch of episodes to see how they end up faring.
