Love Island: Josh Goldstein & Shannon St. Clair Announce Breakup

[Collection]

Love Island USA stars Josh Goldstein and Shannon St. Clair have broken up after almost a year of dating. The pair met on Love Island USA season 3 and quickly won fans over with their chemistry. Despite coupling up at the season 3 premiere based solely on first impressions, their connection turned out to be the real deal. Josh and Shannon became an inseparable pair, and their relationship after Love Island USA only seemed to grow stronger. After leaving the villa early and heading back to Massachusetts to be with Josh’s family, Shannon and Josh kept Love Island USA fans updated on the status of their relationship on social media.

Josh and Shannon gravitated toward each other right away after being introduced to fans on day one, and audiences were sure they were the couple to beat. However, after four weeks of filming, the pair left the villa together after four weeks when Josh learned his sister had passed away unexpectedly, and their self-elimination sent shockwaves through the house. Ultimately, fans and fellow castmates were sympathetic to Josh's decision to leave the show to be with his family and Shannon’s decision to leave alongside her new boyfriend. Earlier this January, fans were thrilled to learn that the Love Island USA stars had plans of moving in together and things seemed to be going according to plan when Shannon moved to Florida to live with Josh.

On Friday, the pair confirmed that they had decided to end their relationship and that Shannon was returning to Pennsylvania. The pair announced their split via Instagram in a joint statement, writing, “There’s been a lot of discussion around the status of our relationship so we wanted to send all of you an update…we love this life we’ve built together, but sometimes timing is everything.” Shannon and Josh went on to explain how Shannon’s desire to be closer to family and return to school to become an esthetician factored into Josh And Shannon's decision to end things. “It certainly has been hard being apart, and we’ve been trying to take the right steps to further both of our careers.”

Fans and fellow castmates alike were shocked to hear of the pair's decision to end things. Josh and Shannon were among the most popular castmates of Love Island USA season 3 and many fans speculate that they might have had a shot to win the show if not for their early exit. And although it seems the pair are parting ways, for now, they remain on good terms with one another. “From love to tragedy and everything in between, we have been by each other’s side with support, friendship, and the greatest love for each other that words cannot even begin to describe. No one can take that away from us.” As for if the two could see themselves reuniting at some point in the future, the pair shared via Instagram, “We don’t know what the future holds, and this may not be goodbye forever, but for now it’s best for both of us ❤️.”

This isn’t the news to shake up the Love Island USA fandom ahead of the season 4 premiere. It was recently announced that Love Island USA has officially moved to the NBCUniversal streaming service Peacock, and many fans believe this move will make the show easier for new fans to navigate. With the return of Love Island USA just a few weeks away, it’ll be interesting to see how changes to the format will spice things up for the newest cast. In the meantime, viewers can check out the UK original on Hulu, where episodes stream two weeks after initially airing in the UK.
