Despite the best of intentions, Amy Slaton from 1000-lb Sisters doesn’t always make the best choices. Being in the spotlight has magnified the good and the bad in her life. Although the reality star has garnered quite a fan base, not all of them are on Team Amy.

The reality star has had a lot on her plate with being a wife and a mother while simultaneously caring for her older sister, Tammy Slaton. Her approach to juggling the responsibilities has left viewers sometimes questioning her motives and intentions. It looks like there is more than meets the eye when it comes to the outspoken 34-year-old.

Since the beginning of 1000-lb Sisters, most of the focus has been on her older sister Tammy. Her overbearing attitude, victim mentality, and ungrateful behavior make it easy to see why she isn’t a fan favorite. Although Amy’s actions aren’t as dramatic, fans have plenty of reasons to dislike her.

Amy has been accused of being a bad mother due to her dangerous and neglectful actions. Motherhood has always been Amy's top priority, but fans are frustrated that she isn't taking the health of her babies seriously. She gave birth to her first son, Gage Halterman, on November 10, 2020, and she is now pregnant with a second baby boy on the way. She has admitted to smoking while knowingly expecting and still hasn't given up the habit this time around. She explained that she is trying to cut back, but viewers are appalled and outraged that she is willing to put her child's lives at risk.

Amy's motivation and dedication to losing weight inspired fans, but since giving birth to her first baby and becoming pregnant with the second, her efforts have stalled. After receiving bariatric surgery, she was given a diet and exercise plan that she still needed to follow to avoid gaining all of her weight back. Instead of following it, Amy Slaton makes excuses to justify why she deviates from it. She knows that she isn't supposed to consume junk food in excess, but whenever she is confronted about it, she says that the baby wants it. Fans feel that she is using her pregnancies as an excuse to hide behind her bad habits.

Amy has taken on the responsibility of caring for her older sister Tammy. She ensures that she gets her to appointments, does her grocery shopping, and everything in between. Amy and Tammy started their weight-loss journey together, but their outcomes have been completely different. Tammy has a food addiction and hasn't made significant strides in losing weight. Many fans feel that Amy enables her by listening to her requests and bringing her food that she isn't supposed to have. Instead of telling Tammy no, Amy finds it easier to just give in and do what Tammy wants.

Amy didn’t have an idyllic childhood, and she grew up having a strained relationship with her mother. Admittedly she wasn’t taught a lot of basic life skills and instead had to figure a lot of things on her own. She explained that not having the encouragement and support from her mother was hurtful, and it has had a negative impact on her even as an adult.

This lack of care has affected Amy greatly and is reflected in a lot of aspects of her life, such as motherhood, losing weight, and relationships, but fans don't think those are good excuses. The 1000-lb Sisters star has a lot to do to get back into the good graces of fans. Viewers want Amy to take accountability and work toward making the necessary changes.
