A Dexter prequel series based on the Trinity killer from the original series remains in the works and recently got a very promising update from the series’ co-creators.
What is the latest Dexter Trinity Killer series update?
Speaking to Deadline, co-creator Clyde Phillips — the original Dexter showrunner — revealed that he and fellow Dexter alum Scott Reynolds (another co-creator on the project) have been working on the Trinity Killer series, but that it isn’t ready just yet.
However, he did have one exciting update regarding Lithgow’s involvement in the project.
“We wrote the entire Trinity Killer series. At the moment, it is on the back burner,” Phillips said. “John Lithgow has agreed to be the voice of his younger self the way Michael Hall is doing for [Original Sin]. There’s that and we’re doing another show with Michael C. Hall, [Resurrection] . . . We were writing that while shooting Original Sin, so that’s fairly busy. We begin shooting [Resurrection] in January and it will air in June 2025.”
The Trinity Killer series, which was originally announced last year, was reported to focus on the Trinity Killer, a character played by John Lithgow in the original Dexter series. The Trinity Killer, also known as Arthur Mitchell in the show, was one of the show’s main antagonists and appeared in the fourth season.
At the time, the series was said to just be in the exploration stages, so little is still known about it. As for the Dexter franchise, Dexter: Resurrection is set to take place after the events of the 2021 miniseries Dexter: Original Sin, and its plot is also mostly unknown as of now.
