In a recent interview, Superman star Rachel Brosnahan shared some interesting details about her script for the James Gunn directorial. In the upcoming film, set to fully relaunch the DC Universe, she essays Lois Lane, who serves as Clark Kent, AKA Superman’s colleague and love interest.

Rachel Brosnahan talks about her Superman script

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star recounted the time she first got to see the full script for James Gunn’s Superman.

Rachel Brosnahan shared with The Washington Post that her script came via an “exploding link.” The 34-year-old recalled her realization that the link could only be “used once on a single device,” after she had opened the script on her iPhone. “And if you screenshot it, someone’s going to show up at your front door and arrest you and throw you into a well with a cage over the top,” she jokingly added.

Moreover, Brosnahan described her iteration of Lois Lane in the interview. She emphasized that her take on the character possessed “hunger, ambition, and a thirst for truth.” The House of Cards actress acknowledged that she shared those same qualities in addition to an “inquisitive side.”

Furthermore, Brosnahan noted that essaying Lois Lane made her feel “the closest” to playing herself. She stressed that this was “the scariest part” about filming Superman. “Not in all the ways. I hesitate to say that, because I feel like that’s so easily taken out of context,” she added. “We are not the same. But I get so many different parts of her, and was a little intimidated by that.”

Additionally, The Courier actress shared that she and Lois Lane were both “precise” and “impulsive.” She stated that Lois prided herself “on being 10 steps ahead of everyone else.” “When something like the deep love that she has for Superman comes in and knocks her off her feet, she can’t figure out how to logic her way around it,” said Brosnahan.

James Gunn’s Superman soars into theaters across the United States on July 11, 2025. Besides Rachel Brosnahan, the film also stars David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, and Isabela Merced.
