20th Century Studios has announced The Amateur Hulu release date for the upcoming streaming debut of its latest spy thriller, starring Oscar winner Rami Malek and Emmy winner Laurence Fishburne. Since making its theatrical debut, the movie has received a Popcornmeter score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Charlie Heller (Malek) is a brilliant, but deeply introverted decoder for the CIA working out of a basement office at headquarters in Langley whose life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “When his supervisors refuse to take action, he takes matters into his own hands, embarking on a dangerous trek across the globe to track down those responsible, his intelligence serving as the ultimate weapon for eluding his pursuers and achieving his revenge.”
When is The Amateur Hulu release date?
The Amateur will be available for streaming starting on July 17 on Hulu. At the moment, the movie is now available for purchase on 4K UHD and Blu-ray. The ensemble cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Sarah, Caitríona Balfe as Inquiline/ Davies, Michael Stuhlbarg as Horst, Holt McCallany as CIA Deputy Director Alex Moore, Julianne Nicholson as CIA director Samantha O’Brien, Danny Sapani as Caleb, Jon Bernthal as Jackson, Adrian Martinez as Carlos, and more.
The movie was directed by James Hawes from a screenplay written by Ken Nolan and Gary Spinelli, based on the 1981 novel by Robert Littell. In addition to leading the cast, Malek also served as a producer alongside Hutch Parker, Dan Wilson, Joel B. Michaels, and JJ Hook.
