Why Prime Video won’t release a new episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty
Fans who were hoping to see more of Belly’s journey are disappointed upon learning that they will have to wait a long time to see what happens next. The streaming site has not scheduled any new episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty for this week.
The lack of a new episode is because the show ended with its series finale, “At Last”, last week on September 17, 2025. Following the finale, the creators have not planned any additional episodes for TSITP at this time. However, the creators confirmed a feature film soon after the episode aired, giving fans something to look forward to.
The author and creator, Jenny Han, is writing and directing the movie, which will conclude Belly’s story. However, the film is still in its pre-production stage. Meaning, fans will have to wait a long time before they can watch the movie because the studio is highly unlikely to release the film before 2027.
During an interview with Variety, Han spoke about the movie’s release window. When the interviewer asked her if the fans could expect it to be released in 2026, the author denied the speculation. “No, I don’t think so. I don’t know when it will be out, but I don’t think it’s safe to say next year because we haven’t filmed it yet,” Han revealed.
The delay is primarily to allow the actors to mature, which will align with the movie’s storyline. “I honestly, really want that extra time, because it’s just getting the actors a little bit closer to adulthood,” the author shared.
While fans wait for the movie, Prime Video members can enjoy other original shows like Gen V and The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.
