Dax Shepard recently revealed that one small holiday task at his home with wife Kristen Bell has changed. This comes after the success that she has seen in recent years. The couple appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s show and talked about their Christmas lights tradition. Shepard shared that earlier, he used to put them up himself, but now he hires professionals to do it.
Dax Shepard explains why he didn’t set up Christmas lights himself
The Nobody Wants This star and her husband recently sat down for a conversation with Jimmy Kimmel, where they revealed a major change in their yearly holiday traditions.
During the couple’s recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host asked Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard if they had put up their Christmas lights already. The two shared that Bell is the one who manages the decorations at the house. They get their Christmas lights up right after Halloween.
When Kimmel asked the duo if they put up the lights themselves, Shepard answered, “I did. And then my wife made too much money, and now I don’t.” But currently, as he and Bell go to their home in Nashville for Thanksgiving and Christmas, they need someone to help them with the lights.
Additionally, Shepard revealed that he conversed with a local contractor, and the person gave him a quote of $17,000, which was too much for them. Thus, he called Aaron Weekly, one of his best friends, and offered to pay him $3000 for putting up the lights instead. However, the couple’s Nashville home has really high ceilings, which led them to worry about their friend’s safety.
Nevertheless, Bell and Shepard’s friend, who worked as a roofer years ago, reassured them that he had proper safety gear for the job. Ultimately, he did end up falling off the roof, but luckily, Shepard caught him mid-air, “Mission Impossible” style, as Bell called it.
The Armchair Expert podcast’s host shared, “Our contractor was there and photographed the whole thing. So we have great photos of Aaron hanging. We’ll think of it this Christmas as we’re enjoying the lights. He went way over the top … he was there for days just chucking [lights] all over the property. It would take him two weeks to take them down.”
As of writing, the Christmas lights at Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell’s home are up. Their friend, they claim, has turned their home into a true “winter wonderland.” The Good Place actress stated, “The house looks like it’s on colorful fire. It’s so bright.”
Shephard further shared that they might hire their friend again next year. He jokingly added that they won’t be taking off the lights ever. Furthermore, he was grateful to get his choice of a colorful Christmas setup under budget.
