Netflix has revealed the teaser trailer and release date for Detective Hole, its newest crime drama based on Jo Nesbø’s popular Harry Hole novels. The video offers a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming whodunnit serial killer mystery series led by one of crime fiction’s most iconic detectives.
“Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers – and supposed colleagues – operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler,” reads the official synopsis. “Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.”

Detective Hole is scheduled to start streaming on March 26, 2026, exclusively on Netflix. The ensemble cast of the Norwegian drama includes Tobias Santelmann, Joel Kinnaman, Pia Tjelta, Ellen Helinder, Anders Baasmo, Maxime Baune Bochud, Kåre Conradi, Simon J. The show is created and written by Nesbø, based on his 2003 novel The Devil’s Star, which was the fifth installment of the Harry Hole novel series. It is executive-produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Amelia Granger, Katy Rozelle, Rene Ezra, Øystein Karlsen, Nesbø, and Niclas Salomonsson. Karlsen and Anna Zackrisson are also serving as directors, with Tor Arne Øvrebø set as a producer. It is a production by Universal International Studios and Working Title.
