Microsoft ran its 2026 Xbox Developer Direct today, revealing release date windows for three of its first-party games. As expected, it is not exclusive to the green gaming brand. All three will also release for the PS5 in 2026.
When are the 2026 Xbox games coming out?
The direct began with its highly anticipated open-world racer, Forza Horizon 6. Although it was previously announced, developer Playground Games went more in-depth with some of the new features coming to the series, as well as giving players a closer look at its Japan setting. It will release for Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19. It will come to PS5 later in 2026.
The next Xbox first-party title was a surprise. Beloved developer Double Fine revealed its unique team-based multiplayer party brawler, Kiln. The upcoming game, which is currently set for a Spring 2026 launch, allows players to craft their own pottery to bring to several mythical battlefields to duke it out with other players’ creations. The game will launch for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
The Xbox Developer Direct closed with the long-awaited and highly-anticipated comeback of the RPG series Fable. Although it was previously announced, this was the first time developer Playground Games went into detail about its open-world RPG as well as showing any extended gameplay. Fable is currently slated to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC in Autumn 2026.
Although it isn’t developed by one of Xbox’s first-party studios, there was one other game shown. Developed by Game Freak, the studio behind the immensely popular Pokémon games, Beast of Reincarnation is an action-RPG that tells the story of Emma and Koo’s quest to confront the titular beast. It is slated to launch in Summer 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
