10 Members Of The Jedi Council And Their MCU Counterpart

[Collection]

The Star Wars universe is filled with intriguing characters, not the least of which are those who comprise the High Jedi Council. These are the most powerful Jedi of the Order, who decide the direction of the organization and possess a closer connection to the Force than most others.

While every character in the Star Wars universe is unique, they do bear some resemblance to personalities from other franchises, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such, certain members of the Jedi High Council are strikingly similar to particular characters in Marvel's catalog.

Kit Fisto is a powerful member of the Jedi Council, who served until the time of his death at the hands of Chancellor Palpatine just before Order 66. A Naotolian hailing from Glee Anselm, Fisto was known for his impressive dueling skill and his warm and friendly personality.

Fisto shares some similarities with the Avengers' Ant-Man. While Kit Fisto is a more well-respected hero compared to Lang's miniature-sized Avenger, both of these characters have endearing and friendly approaches to life and always seem to have a smile on their face, making them some of the most amicable people in their respective franchises.

Ki-Adi-Mundi was one of the longest-serving members of the High Jedi Council before Order 66. Known to many fans for his distinctively large head, Master Mundi was a very wise Jedi whose by-the-book methods made him a respected and experienced member of the Order.

Master Mundi shares certain characteristics with Dr. Hank Pym. Though Hank may never live up to his comic book counterpart's many heroic alter-egos, he serves as the wise and experienced mentor who, though his own glory days may be behind him, is willing to help another hero achieve glory. Ki-Adi-Mundi often does the same as one of the eldest and most experienced members of the Council.

Saesee Tiin was a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars who had a distinctively strong connection to the Force, such that he was able to use this ability to become one of the greatest pilots that the Jedi had ever produced. Master Tiin was killed by Chancellor Palpatine after accompanying Mace Windu to arrest the exposed Sith Lord.

Master Tiin is similar to another famous fictional pilot in Carol Danvers, who becomes the powerful Captain Marvel. Both characters share a love of flying, with Danvers hailed as one of the greatest fighter pilots of her generation before the incident that allowed her to fly without the use of a plane. Much like Saesee Tiin, Captain Marvel is one of the most powerful among her peers, making her a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.

Eeth Koth was a Force-sensitive Zabrak who served on the Jedi High Council during the Naboo crisis and into the early years of the Clone Wars. Most famous for his arc in The Clone Wars animated series wherein he is captured by General Grievous, the Jedi Master eventually left the Order and started a family in his exile, only to later be hunted down and killed by the villainous Darth Vader.

Due largely in part to his exile from the Jedi Order and fall from grace as a result thereof, Master Koth resembles the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of the Winter Soldier. After being experimented on by Hydra scientists, Bucky Barnes experienced a fall from grace not unlike Eeth Koth's, which has kept him as an outsider from those whom he once called friends.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the best-known and most well-respected Jedi in the Star Wars universe. Fresh off his very own spinoff series wherein fans have been introduced to new characters in the Star Wars franchise, Kenobi is the Jedi who was entrusted with the responsibility of training the Chosen One, only to be forced to later leave his former apprentice for dead in the fires of Mustafar.

Kenobi shares many defining characteristics with Captain America. Both characters are by-the-book heroes that struggle with more unpredictable companions, such as Anakin Skywalker or Tony Stark. Each of these characters can be relied on to follow the rules and guidelines set up by a higher power, unless it jeopardizes their dearest-held values.

Adi Gallia is a Jedi Master who is shown to be a part of the council during The Phantom Menace. She fought as a general in the Clone Wars but was killed after joining Obi-Wan Kenobi in a battle against the resurrected Darth Maul and Savage Oppress. She was then replaced on the council by her cousin, Master Stass Allie.

Both Gallia and Black Widow are strong personalities in a group mostly dominated by men, paving the way for future women to eventually take their place and expand on the opportunities given to them. Furthermore, each of these characters has a propensity to poke fun at their companions, keeping the general attitude of conversation light and breezy.

Plo Koon was a Jedi Master who served on the council throughout the prequel trilogy. Known for his distinctive goggles, which protected his eyes from disintegrating in hostile atmospheres, Master Koon is a wise and dogmatic Jedi who forged deep bonds with others. He was eventually shot out of the sky by his own clone troopers while flying a mission over Cato Neimoidia.

Master Koon shares some traits with the Vision, the synthezoid superhero from the Avengers films. Each of these characters has an inclination for wise postulation and, though both may appear cold based on their outward appearance, Vision and Koon are known for forging emotionally mature bonds with certain members of their found family.

Mace Windu was one of the most powerful Jedi during the Clone Wars and the mouthpiece of the Jedi Council during that time. Wise yet arrogant, Master Windu eventually met his end after a duel with Chancellor Palpatine, wherein he was betrayed and dismembered by Anakin Skywalker before being hurled through a window. Despite his supposed death, some fans continue to theorize that Mace Windu may still be alive after all.

Mace Windu struggles with many of the same character defects as the Avengers' Tony Stark. Both characters are vital to their respective teams but often struggle as a result of their own arrogance. However, while Stark was able to overcome his selfishness and use his intelligence for good, Windu buckled under his own self-image, failing to see the fall of the Jedi until it was too late.

Master Yoda was the most powerful Jedi in the Order at the time of the Clone Wars and a valuable asset in the early training of the younglings. Having served on the council for several centuries, Yoda had attuned himself to the Force in such a way that he could sense things his compatriots could not. The Jedi was also deceptively skilled with a lightsaber, making him a ferocious opponent in close combat.

Yoda is a duplicitous character in that he is both the calm and reserved Jedi Master beloved by his students and the fierce warrior who does not hesitate to brutally kill his enemies when necessary. In this regard, he resembles the MCU's Bruce Banner and Hulk. Much like Yoda, Bruce Banner is a cerebral personality who hides a far fiercer warrior on the inside, who, when released, can wreak true havoc.

Anakin Skywalker was considered by the Jedi Council to be "the Chosen One," who would bring balance to the Force. As the last member ever inducted into the Council, Anakin eventually betrayed the Order and brought about the Great Jedi Purge before becoming the Sith Lord known as Darth Vader. He would spend the next nineteen years hunting down and killing any Jedi that survived the Purge.

The Scarlet Witch has come to resemble Anakin Skywalker, especially in her recent fall from grace in Multiverse of Madness. Both characters are the most powerful of their respective factions but allowed themselves to be consumed by that power, turning to a far darker alignment. In the end, both saw the light, but not in time to save themselves from the darkness that they had embraced for so long.
