Warner Bros. Animation has announced a new Looney Tunes movie called Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical. It will be released on both HBO Max and Cartoon Network. Looney Tunes has been a cartoon staple since all the way back in 1930 and continues to be beloved by fans across the globe. With Bugs Bunny at the helm of an ensemble cast of lovable characters, the property has received all sorts of adaptations for nearly a century. The most recent of these is the HBO Max original series Looney Tunes Cartoons which brings the franchise back to its roots with a series of short bits in every episode.
As reported by Variety, Warner Bros. Animation announced that they will be making a brand new Looney Tunes movie for HBO Max and Cartoon Network called Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical. Emmy Award winner Ariel Dumas, known for her work as head writer on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, wrote both the screenplay and lyrics for the musical film. Being advertised as a “family event”, Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical will feature all kinds of original songs and dance numbers from Warner Bros.
While much is still unknown about this first-ever original Looney Tunes musical film, a brief synopsis of the plot has been provided. Bugs Bunny has been the star of a Looney Tunes Broadway show for a long time and looks to retire from the stage. However, before Daffy Duck can take his place as the new lead, he is kidnapped and Bugs must go on a rescue mission to save his friend. Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical has not yet received a release date but fans can expect more news for the project in the near future.
