Hogwarts Legacy Will Have a PlayStation-Exclusive Mission and No Tracked Morality System

Sony has been heavily advertising Hogwarts Legacy through a special DualSense trailer and its own State of Play, and it seems as though that relationship will continue into the game, too. Those on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will be able to enjoy an exclusive quest. It was also confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy won’t have any sort of outwardly tracked morality system.

As found by Twitter user RetroRaconteur, the PlayStation Store listing for the action role-playing game lists an exclusive quest as one of the benefits of buying any version of the game on PlayStation platforms. Community Manager Chandler Wood noted on Twitter that this mission will be for anyone who gets the game on those platforms regardless of pre-order status or if it is a digital or physical copy. People who pre-order on PlayStation will get an exclusive Felix Francis potion, but details on that (and the quest) are coming soon, according to Wood.

Wood also highlighted the game’s morality system, or lack thereof, on Twitter after being prompted about a change within the game’s existing FAQ. Hogwarts Legacy will let players choose how they interact with characters in many conversations or give them the option to learn the Dark Arts, but there will be no “formal tracked morality system” like those that are in other games like Mass Effect or Infamous that brand players as evil or good depending on their actions.

This specific question was likely raised in accordance with its Gamescom trailer that brought up the option to learn Crucio, the Torture Curse. That would naturally imply that players have many other ethically quandaries to ponder, which many RPGs manifest through meters that rise or fall depending on the player’s decisions. However, Hogwarts Legacy is seemingly going the way of other modern RPGs like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and giving players similar choices without outwardly tracking them and assigning labels.
