Two months after its first season finale premiered, one of FX‘s newest hit crime comedy shows has finally received a second season renewal. According to Deadline, Ethan Hawke‘s The Lowdown is officially coming back for Season 2, which will begin production this spring in Tulsa.
What do we know about FX’s The Lowdown series?
“The show follows the gritty exploits of citizen journalist Lee Raybon (Hawke), a self-proclaimed Tulsa ‘truthstorian’ whose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble. While Lee’s no idealist, he’s fiercely committed to exposing corruption and unearthing the city’s hidden rot, even when it puts him at risk,” reads the synopsis. “In Season 1, the publication of Lee’s latest exposé — a deep dive into the powerful Washberg family — is immediately followed by the suspicious suicide of Dale Washberg, and Lee knows he’s stumbled onto something big. Following a trail of breadcrumbs Dale has left behind, urging someone to dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding his death, Lee does just that.”
The Lowdown is created and executive-produced by Sterlin Harjo. He is best known for his work on FX’s acclaimed coming-of-age series Reservation Dogs, which lasted for three seasons. Season 1 also featured Keith David, Kaniehtiio Horn, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Macon Blair, Tim Blake Nelson, Tracy Letts, Kyle MacLachlan, Rafael Casal, and more.
Hawke was also joined by several guest stars, including Peter Dinklage, Tisha Campbell, and the late Graham Greene, with Paulina Alexis and Devery Jacobs reprising their roles from Reservation Dogs. The series is executive-produced by Garrett Basch, Ethan Hawke, Ryan Hawke, and Duffy Boudreau. It hails from FX Productions.
