The upcoming slapstick comedy Jackass: Best and Last, also known as Jackass 5, is off to a great start in early box office predictions. Starring most of the cast from 2022’s Jackass Forever, including Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Christ Pontius, and Jason “Wee Man” Acuña, this fifth and final installment in the Jackass franchise is a compilation film, a last hurrah for the hit American show. It will nostalgically combine old and new footage, revealing never-before-seen footage and featuring some of the best stunts and pranks throughout the series. Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and distributed by Paramount Pictures, Jackass: Best and Last is slated to release in the US on June 26, 2026.

What is Jackass: Best and Last expected to earn in its domestic opener?

An early prediction for Jackass: Best and Last has it earning $15 million to $25 million in its domestic opener from June 26 to June 28. For its full theatrical run in the US and Canada, it’s projected to rake in somewhere between $27 million and $49 million.

These figures are based on a May 22 report from analytics site BoxOfficeTheory (via a thread on the r/boxoffice Reddit), which believes that the film’s “ceiling for success here should be attainable.” This is mostly because the budget for the upcoming comedy is expected to be low. While the production hasn’t revealed any official numbers on its budget, Jackass Forever was made on a frugal $10 million, and given that this new movie is partially comprised of archived footage, it’s not expected to break the bank in cost. If we take the general rule that movies need to make 2.5 times its budget to make a profit, Jackass: Best and Last is likely to break even on its domestic numbers alone (if its current projection holds).

That said, the report is concerned that this swan song for the franchise will not be able to match the box office haul of Jackass Forever, which earned $23.1 million in its domestic start on its way to a $80.5 million worldwide total. While that’s lower than the $171 million Jackass 3D earned in 2010, it was still a box office success. It notes that Jackass Forever came out in a relatively empty calendar “during the post-COVID theatrical recovery window in early 2022,” whereas Jackass: Best and Last will need to compete against other summer blockbusters.

In particular, the comedy comes out on the same day as “the similarly male-driven Supergirl” while it tries to appeal to “long-time fans, mostly millennial and Gen X men.” The film will need to face off against Stephen Spielberg’s Disclosure Day releasing on June 12 and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 that arrives on June 19. Fortunately, these two blockbusters are in separate genres, so Jackass: Best and Last should provide strong counter-programming within the timeframe.

The full synopsis for the upcoming film promises that the series will be going out with a bang for its 25th anniversary: “Johnny Knoxville and the gang return for one final fling at the big screen. Featuring all-new stunts and stupidity along with the greatest hits and biggest laughs from the past, Jackass: Best and Last is a joyously raucous celebration of all the mischievous camaraderie that you’ve come to love and expect from these idiots over the past 25 years. So, grab your dumb little buddies, raise your glasses, and come experience the cinematic event that promises to be the last time you’ll ever laugh this hard in a theatre.”

As a surprise ahead of the film, Paramount+ has released a restored version of the first three seasons of Jackass. The creators of the show had requested these seasons to be removed from the stream, with Knoxville saying that they had been “re-edited, re-sequenced, and re-scored to the point that they were unrecognizable.” So he has praised Paramount “for giving us the $$ to restore the shows to how they initially aired.”
