DC and Warner Bros. Animation have released a trailer and new details for a new Batman movie. The announcements came at the 2026 edition of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
What do we see in the new Batman movie trailer?
The first trailer for Batman: Knightfall has been released. Knightfall is a new three-part movie event that tells the story of the 1993 Knightfall arc from the comics. The story follows Bruce Wayne getting his back broken by Bane and then Azrael stepping in as the new Batman.
If that sounds familiar, it’s because elements of the storyline were adapted in Christopher Nolan’s 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises. IGN has also revealed that MCU star Michael Mando will be voicing Bane in the film, while Black Bolt actor Anson Mount will voice Batman. Halo actor Pablo Schreiber will be voicing Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael.
The Knightfall storyline consists of three storylines, consecutively titled Knightfall, Knightquest, and KnightsEnd. The series was written by Chuck Dixon, Jo Duffy, Alan Grant, Dennis O’Neil, and Doug Moench.
Batman: Knightfall Part 1 is directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Jeremy Adams. Rick Morales will serve as Supervising Producer, with Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau producing the film. Sam Register and Michael Uslan serve as executive producers. The animated film will be rated R.
Batman: Knightfall Part 1 currently doesn’t have a release date, but it is expected to come out by the end of 2026.
