James Gunn‘s upcoming DCU has added a notable Wonder Man actor to its cast alongside several returning Superman stars. The announcement comes just a month after the Disney+ MCU series was canceled after one season.
Arian Moayed, who played Agent P. Cleary in Wonder Man, has joined the cast of The People v. Gorilla Grodd. Other shows the Iranian actor is also known for are Succession, Inventing Anna, Ms. Marvel, and more.
The People v. Gorilla Grodd is a new mockumentary series that HBO Max recently announced as part of Gunn’s expanding DC Universe. The streamer has given the show an eight-episode order (via Variety).
The show is based on the DC Comics supervillain Gorilla Grodd. Created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, Grodd is a super-intelligent gorilla who possesses extraordinary mental abilities after being exposed to radiation from a strange meteorite.
Multiple stars from Gunn’s 2025 movie Superman will also reprise their roles in The People v. Gorilla Grodd.
Who all are there in James Gunn’s growing universe?
The People v. Gorilla Grodd will star Jimmy Tatro as the titular supervillain. Meanwhile, Skyler Gisondo will reprise his role as Jimmy Olsen from Superman. The series will also feature several other returning Superman cast members. They include Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White.
New cast additions for the show include Arian Moayed along with Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Andrew Leeds, Tim Baltz, and Dan Perrault.
The People v. Gorilla Grodd will follow the titular protagonist, a super-intelligent ape, who is convicted of murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City. Daily Planet’s Jimmy Olsen reopens the case to investigate whether Grodd was wrongly convicted.
The show’s writers, Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, will also serve as executive producers and showrunners, with DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television producing. Perrault is also part of the cast, while Yacenda will direct all eight episodes. Other executive producers include James Gunn and Peter Safran.
