ESO: High Isle - How to Find & Defeat Jailer Mannick (Whalefall)

[Collection]

The Elder Scrolls Online has recently released its sixth installment, High Isles, where players can fight the mini-boss Jailer Mannick. This DLC, part of the larger Legacy of the Bretons storyline, takes place on the Systres Archipelago. In High Isle, players can traverse both High Isle and Amenos, completing storyline quests, killing overland bosses for loot, exploring delves, and completing trials. This game marks the first time a player has been able to explore Elder Scroll Online's islands, with two of the four islands, High Isle and Amenos, as playable regions. Jailer Mannick is found on Amenos, the northern island.

The dungeons in the Elder Scrolls Online universe are known as delves, and there are six of them in the High Isle expansion: Breakwater Cave, Coral Cliffs, Death's Valor Camp, the Firepot, Shipwreck Shoals, and Whalefall. Each of these delves contains Skyshards and rare loot dropped by mini-bosses. In addition to these delves, players can enter two public dungeons: the Spire of the Crimson Coin, accessible from the main High Isle island, and the Ghost Haven Bay, accessible from Amenos. These public dungeons in High Isle are coin dungeons where players can defeat up to six bosses for coins and loot.

Within the delves, players can find boss drops in the Systres Scowl or the Steadfast Mettle sets. Whalefall is a delve accessible from Amenos, an island inhabited by pirates and smugglers. Whalefall is a small island off the coast of Amenos, and once the player reaches the delve, they can fight their way through pirates to the end mini-boss, Jailer Mannick.

The easiest way to get to Whalefall is to use the Trappers Peak wayshrine, then travel southwest to Whalefall. If the player has not yet unlocked the Trapper's Peak wayshrine, they should start at the Amenos Station and follow the main road north. At the fork, head left and follow the path around until they reach the Hidden Foundry crafting station. Crafting stations in ESO allow the player to craft items with materials from across Tamriel. From there, head west until the Whalefall location is discovered. The entrance to Whalefall delve is a raft on the coast. An NPC, Launa Jolvanna, tells the player that they "better be alive to make these splinters worth it." Interact with the raft to warp over to Whalefall.

Once the player reaches Whalefall delve, they must follow the path through the island's interior fighting various Hunters along the way. At the very end of the path, whichever direction the player chooses, will be Jailer Mannick. The mini-boss stands in a clearing speaking with another jailer in what appears to be a boat graveyard, one of the interesting features of High Isle's pirate-themed questline. Once the player starts attacking, Jailer Mannick taunts them by saying "another wretch wants to leave my game? There's only one way out!"

Jailer Mannick's sentries attack with a mace and shield. The sentries are decent minions, so be prepared for some damage. Next, captive prisoners join the battle to fight the player, including an ornaug, about halfway through the fight. As Whalefall operates as a prison of sorts, it makes sense that Jailer Mannick forces his captives to fight. He views the island as his game, and continues to taunt the player during the fight. Once all of these minions are defeated, Jailer Mannick jumps down to fight the player wearing a full suit of armor and wielding a serious mace. Once defeated, Jailer Mannick drops the Shoes of High Isle, a soul gem, and other various items. Mini-bosses in ESO are a source of armor and weapons loot drops.
