Following the success of War Machine, Reacher star Alan Ritchson is once again teaming up with Netflix for an exciting TV project. Ritchson will be leading the streamer’s untitled survival competition show, marking his return to reality television, more than two decades after appearing on American Idol as a contestant.
What do we know about Alan Ritchson’s Netflix TV show?
According to Deadline, Ritchson will be joined by high-profile personalities as they head into the wilderness, where they’ll be competing against each other. This also marks Ritchson’s first TV project, after finding success in Prime Video’s action thriller series Reacher, which is now on its fourth season.
“The show features an avid survivalist and experienced outdoorsman, Ritchson, who will lead a group of high-profile creators and headline-makers in asking if, when all the comforts of modern life are stripped away, can they rise to the challenge to survive, or will they give in to the pressure? Competition, alliances, and egos collide as this group puts public reputations on the line, testing players’ self-reliance, problem-solving, and grit,” reads the initial logline.
The untitled TV show is also executive-produced by Ritchson, Julie Pizzi, Rupert Dobson, Gayani Wanigaratne, John Faratzis, and showrunner Jay Bienstock. It hails from Bunim/Murray Productions, the producers behind many reality shows like I Survived Bear Grylls and MTV’s The Challenge.
After War Machine, Ritchson will next be seen starring opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in Amazon MGM Studios’ action comedy movie The Man with the Bag. He is also currently attached to lead the upcoming action thriller film Runner with Owen Wilson.
